I am the first one who selected 0-10?!?

Everything regresses towards the mean, given enough time, and as I am an optimist - the slight skew is to the positive side.

Joy is a survival asset; miserable people tend to self-select for an early demise, directly or indirectly. Happier people would tend to live longer on average, swinging the mean towards joy as measured in existence - hours.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

numerous studies involving cancer patients have shown that positive thinking/happiness/etc does didley**** for survivability

if anything, misery hardens you to the struggles of life, making you more likely to survive

In English, a lasting bad thing is a sequela, because we hate women.
