Sava, did you even read the article? It wasn't just the royal family that discouraged the police from charging him. "Calls flooded in ..."

No, you're an anti-feminist because of the lead pipes in your house.

Irrelevant, but I just now bothered to read the OP link and discovered the youngest victim was 17.[/pedant]

You're a feminist now? That figures. A feminist who supports the Royal Family. You're a real piece of work.

No, I'm not a bloody feminist, except insofar as I am not a raging misogynist. I'm actually moderately skeptical of many of the more kooky manifestations of modern feminism, e.g. "slut-shaming," "mansplaining," and whatever other crap they're complaining about on Jezebel. I'm just not silly enough to think these complaints represent more than a tiny and irrelevant fringe of self-appointed moral authorities who think they can scold the world into their own image.

Yes, a lot of people get us mixed up. But I don't have a clitoris. I checked.

You just both go around calling people misogynist for no reason. I didn't say you had a clitoris. What would that have to do with anything. As we see with poly there are plenty of people without clitorises' that go around calling people misogynist.

Elok, what's your problem with 'slut-shaming' as a movement?

Before the french revolution, the despot was considered an authority.
The idea that people don't need one and can govern themselves had enormous ripples throughouth europe (and it certaintly affected the americas too).
It also affected the greek revolution.
And it created the idea of the modern nation-state (and there are some problems there though too I admit)

Besides, the idea that a ruling class is not listening to the complains of the people and get their heads chopped off?
                          Glorious man

It's also the reason the french pronoucne the "r" like they do. To distance themselves from (chopped off) royalty.
So if a french cat comes and pourrrrs to you, you know who to thank.

Let's all just hug and agree that the French Revolution was a brilliant concept, but poorly implemented.

Too broadly implemented. If they limited the label to actually calling people vicious names because of their promiscuity, I'd be all behind that. I'm generally pro-manners, even on here where you can call someone a ****wit and all parties are cool with it. Not automatically assuming rape victims were "asking for it" would also be nice, though I think that's an uphill battle for complicated psychological reasons I got into in another thread not long ago. But "slut-shaming" appears to mean "expressing any kind of morally normative opinion on sexuality, especially female sexuality, beyond 'rape is bad,' even in the abstract and without attacking any specific person." I think we're also allowed to disapprove of cheating/adultery under some circumstances, not sure. Either way, it's just another way of pathologizing dissent from modern progressivism.

How do you know they don't have clitorises? I understand Aeson has a whole collection of them. Stop being so aclitoronormative.
