Pity that the CtP series never got additional parts after part 2 ... it was an extremly interesting variant. But it was extremly nice, that Activision at least released the sourcecode for CtP 2

All of this talk of Civ, reminded me of another question to ask. It is actually similiar to the theme of this thread. Has playing Civ and interacting with other global Civ players here, changed your real world views regarding how our own civilizations should function in order to survive on this planet?

Playing Civ definitely not ... the Civ games are too far removed from reality to serve as a model for the real world

There are other games, for example Democracy 2/3, which IMHO are better suited as model for modern states ... but they usually lack the longterm replaybity of Civ

Yes. I am now much more firmly of the belief that I should rule the world as God Emperor.

I'd elect you for good emperor, but only if you manage to hybridize with some other species to augment your powers. Bonus points if it's an alien species.

Find me an alien and I will **** it. I mean, I'll **** anything at this point.

Hey! Did some one say "Free Beer"?
To The Hijack Police: I don't know what you are talking about. I didn't do it. I wasn't there. I don't even own a computer.

It made me realise that global warming could be a competitive advantage if you're ahead. Also, for Australia with a large landmass, huge coastline and small population investing in highly mobile defensive hardware with a large range is the way to go.

I have actually put a lot of thought into the question, "Why am I here?"

Here are a few of the resons that I came up with:

People here are generally smarter than the run of the mill forum

This place has a fair amount of international perspective

When some people want to, they can have very thought provoking ways of looking at things

Posters aren't afraid (with some notable exceptions) to back up their positions with links...i.e. most just don't make crap up in a real debate

If you say something stupid, no one tries to sugar coat their response

I have come to genuinely care about a lot of people I have never met and enjoy following their journey through life

I guess that sums up the main ones that come to mind. The biggest reason though is probably because this is ...well...this is my internet home.
"I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you're not patriotic. We should stand up and say we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration." - Hillary Clinton, 2003
