Obviously, I have mulled this question over for myself. I see other new posters come and go. So, why am I still here? Poly is very different from my own previous forums by the fact that it almost seems like a family get together. (Trust me, when you have a big family, it gets crazy too but can be entertaining) True, if it wasn't for my being able to see another side of my hubby, I may not have returned. Apparently, many of you have been here a long time. Why are you here?

I'm just here for Mobius and Sava, and I kind of assumed so was everyone else.

Why? What about them captures your interest?

They challenge my core conceptions. They make me consider perspectives that I otherwise would not. They renew my faith in humanity and allow me to take each day one step at a time.

That is true for many posters here. I must admit I find the debates from a global perspective quite fascinating. And just now, your response above, I can see Sava's postings in a different perspective as well.

I am here because, if I wouldn´t be here, I would be somewhere else. And I don´t know if I would like being somewhere else

I would leave, but then someone might say something bad about me behind my back and I wouldn't be around to call them names in return. Is that really the kind of world we want to live in?

Yeah. Everyone has to be somewhere.

I find this place modestly amusing (and some of the posters very clever and amusing), and occasionally see or participate in an intellectual debate. It's not my main home on the internet, but it's worth stopping in once a day or so.

Thank you all for giving me a different perspective on the individual postings in this forum. I am even beginning to understand from a different perspective some I thought were trolls actually may contribute in their own way to see things differently. Geez, hope that run on sentence makes sense!

Edit add: Some posters in another thread have warned me that studying this forum too much might make me go insane. I do want to say, I really appreciate the saner debates to balance out the insanity.

I'd be glad to see you stay. I'm not much interested in the banter that makes up 95% of the content here (not that I mind that bantering content, because those who engage in it seem to enjoy it and I don't have to pay any attention to it) and it strikes me that you aren't either. One or two more decent threads a day would be quite welcome.

In the past some people have been insightful here.

Thank you. I am trying to be a productive poster most of the time. I have learned that some of the crazier postings can actually have a nice balance against the drama of real world news. Escapism of being a responsible politically correct adult, perhaps? So, forgive me, if you see me get caught up in the silliness now and again.

It's a fairly broad selection of very bright people, some of whom can be induced to have polite discussions of interesting topics. Most of the time they just call each other names, but that has a bright side too--you can get a reputation as unusually reasonable around here just by waiting until the third page of debate to call the other guy a ****head.

Other places on the internet also have total jerkoffs, but those places only have stupid jerkoffs.
