She is a bigot because she refuses to consider contrary evidence and simply restates her original, discredited thesis. That's the very definition of a bigot.

She has to either do her job, or resign. She can't simply collect a massive paycheck and refuse to do the work involved - at least, not without showing she has no ethical standards at all. The state manifestly will be helped, not hurt, by her resignation. At a minimum, it will be $80,000 the richer.

No one is concerned over "an individuals decision not to approve of gay marriage." people are concerned that that individual wants to use the power of government to ram her personal religious convictions down the throat of the people she nominally works for.

she folded. I do not agree with her. I can never understand how someone becomes like her. but she had her beliefs and was sticking to them - more so than probably most would have (one can argue because she is stupid). now she;s doing this 180degree thing... did her trust in the lord change in the last week? she's a fool - because she blinked. blinked in the eyes of god himself, whatever that means.

Assuming that she is legitimately opposed to gay marriage, then her "best" option would have been to stay in jail for the remainder of her term, her second "best" option would have been to resign, and absolutely her worst option would be to do what she's doing: "I'm against gay marriage because of the Bible etc., but I've decided that I'd rather stay out of jail and earn a nice paycheck rather than do anything at all to oppose it."

I'm against animal cruelty, but I'm only the ship's captain on the baby seal clubbing expedition - I'm not actually clubbing any seals so my hands are clean.
