I've never had any stories like that rah, but I had a WTF moment with a coworker a few years back. I met for work, 20 min early to be able to change and have good time to settle in. I like that. So she says hi and tells me, well then I'm off(this is still 20 min before I start my shift, and we're the only ones at work). I say w00t? She says she has to go, or else she will be late for her other job. So there I stand, no work clothes, a ton of customers waiting, the register is not counted(obviously I'm not allowed to log in before that is done). So I jump into it, lots of angry customers. I discover NONE of her duties for the night is done, food is dry and yucky due to not being replaced or tended to, things are dirty and commodities in the shop is all over the place. So I do what I can and when alone calls my boss. He says I will come over and look at it.

Next day, I come to my shift. Turns out she and me are on the same shift this day. She begins to yell at me in front of the customers, telling me everyone at work hates me and various unkind stuff. I try to ignore her and tend to the customers. Someone calls my boss and complains, naturally. These two days, together with her yelling at a customer for paying with small coins so she had to count the lot of them(it was around 100 coins, but we like to have lots of change around and customers are allowed to pay with whatever, right?), and her generally being a sloth, ended the work contract for her not much later...

I had a co-worker who missed a week of work, and her excuse was that she had had brain cancer, but it went into remission after a week. She didn't last long.

                  Another victim of brain cancer.

We had someone senior who was receiving cancer treatment and would disappear for days and then show up at work and just sort of close the door and collapse exhausted at his desk. He never officially disclosed he had cancer, or was even sick. He didn't want to give up his job. His staff and others above just sort of worked around him until he got better.

"Um... I'm not going to be in for a while. I had a baby last night..." She was a larger woman who worked for me in the '80s. Apparently, she didn't know she was pregnant until she went into labour.

So, did she figure it was just her diabetes acting up and shutting down her cycle for most of a year?

I'm always amazed when there's a story in the news about a women that had a baby that had no clue until the arrival.

And I've always found it amusing. Those that need excuses often have the most elaborate ones. Those that rarely do it just say, I overslept or my alarm didn't go off.

You do know women can have their period while being pregnant, right?

It's possible for a woman to have vaginal bleeding during pregnancy but I'm pretty sure menstruation can't happen.
