    30 knots.

Not even close. I've taken multiple destroyers above 30 (not for long!) and been left in the dust by carriers. It's eqsily in the 35+ range.

They got all that. Pac rim is the biggest exercise in the Pacific.

Those who know tell me subs are still fiendishly difficult to detect depending on weather, current and sea conditions, and what stealth kit they are carrying.

Lets just hope we never actually find out. Isn't it something crazy like 6000 souls on a US carrier?

                I've had mixed feedback.

In the end (literally sometimes), it can be unpleasant ni matter what you do.

I bet the US is too chicken **** to sail a carrier through the Taiwan Straits any more...

that's a big investment... not a lot of water. lots of coastline to hide launchers.

heck even in CIV II i'll only build a carrier if I have everything to give it full movement - 8 I think. it gets your aircraft 4 spaces closer. and floats back before end of turn.

But anyone who sinks a carrier - they've already made up their mind for war. At least I think Obama would do something... or maybe it would be just another red line.

I'm pretty sure that the chinese won't sink any US carriers unless US have declared war, why should they ?

Why ? China invades taiwan claiming that it's an internal Chinese matter and US should stay away. US starts interfering with or without war decl. - China legally sinks a couple of US carriers because US is the agressor.

it's a reason. I would think catching someone off guard you would have a better chance instead of attacking a carrier at general quarters.
