I hope she goes down more than 'Poly..
There's nothing wrong with the dream, my friend, the problem lies with the dreamer.

I knew a guy whose son essentially got a mail order bride from Russia. It was arranged by mail, but he had to pick her up in person. This was back in the 90s though.

I haven't kept up with them so I don't know how things turned out in the long run. At the time, the father was a bit skeptical, but was withholding judgment. The son was quite happy and the woman seemed happy too.

There was a poster here that was paying through the nose for a Russian Bride.
Amazingly enough, despite his paying more and more money, the bride never materialized.
He even went there to pick her up, but came home empty handed.

Thank god I was out of the dating scene before online became the way to go.

Of course if I was online now, I'd be younger, better looking and wealthier.

Is online really the way to go? I don't really know anyone who met their girlfriends/boyfriends online.

it's been something of a habit of mine that i'm incapable of dating a woman who lives in the same area code as i do.
I wasn't born with enough middle fingers.

Well that could just mean you live along a state border

But for real what is online dating actually like? All the impressions I have gotten from friends are that it is a bit sketchy/mainly for hookups. Is that true?

Your backdrop is college, which is actually a massive gathering of youth with something in common (going to college, duh). So no, online is not the preferred dating path for a man of your ilk.

                            Be thankful.

So online dating is mainly for older people since people in college/just out of college generally don't need it?

I wonder if anyone's gone to grad school to get a spouse.

EDIT: I mean, before online, didn't people pull out ads in the local newspaper? Or is that just something from the movies
