I see three motivations for getting a tattoo:
- beliefs/background (religion, heritage or organization symbology/adages)
- shared experience (military units, prison, gang members)
- decoration/body art (like permanent jewelry, I guess)
- rebellion against society/parents
OK, four. I see four motivations for getting a tattoo.
- peer pressure (everybody's doing it)
