The basic idea, as I see it, is to minimize the impact on your life if the grid does go down. I don't think people are ideologically opposed to the grid for the most part, it's just that there are concerns that certain events could bring it down for an extended period of time. Given that, wouldn't it be sillier not to use the internet to collect and share information?No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.
