I am concerned that a subset of the contemporary Left has deeply illiberal tendencies, most notably the tendency to undermine freedom of thought and expression in the name of concern for people's sensibilities. E.g., "microagression." Now, the people who believe in that sort of thing are thankfully still on the fringe of liberalism, but not as fringe as I think they used to be.

"Political correctness" is of no importance to me.

A few guys went out to a soccer game in Canada so they’d have a decent excuse to get loaded and one of them interrupted a TV interview by yelling “F*ck her right in the *****” on camera... The female reporter went justice league and confronted the group of guys while still rolling cameras live. The f*cktards defended themselves by looking smug and drunk and stupid. The reporter then goes out of her way to explain she’s been victimized by this same shoddy prank dozens of times and she finds it extremely offensive as a woman, a reporter, and somebody who’s on soccer game duty which is below five other Canadian sports you’ve never even heard of...

Briefly - one of the idiots in the video was spotted by his employer and fired. He wasn't a teenaged kid blowing off drunken steam. Up until a few days ago, he was a senior engineer and department head making a six figure salary. In this case, he did something offensive in public, then tried to defend the offense, fire him.

I'm often politically incorrect, as was my ex. I love to mock the politically correct up to the point that someone is offended. If an individual is offended, I back off... unless the person offended is a big ass. In Canada, we don't have the 1st Amendment, and I'm glad because people should not have an absolute right to free speech. Laws have been enacted in the US to curb the greatest excesses.
