that's true, but i don't think there's any signs that he plans, or crucially has the ability, to go beyond the usual north korean fare of ridiculous threats and provocations.

There aren't any signs I'm aware of that he has plans to, but he certainly has the ability to turn the Korean peninsula into a warzone that would certainly result in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of South Koreans. Seoul is permanently vulnerable to massive attack, and there is basically nothing the South Koreans or the US could do to prevent it if the order was given by the NK leadership.
