The US Army systemically walks less than the Marines? Actually that's almost certainly true. I am just surprised by the extent. Less surprised when I see soldiers.

They just spend more to get a better boot. They also get much smarter people. I can remember taking the ASFAB and seeing one poor guy who tested so poorly he couldn't get into his first choice of the Air Force nor his second choice of the Army and the recruiter was trying to consol him by saying "don't worry, son, the Marine Corp will still take you. They take just about anyone."

I already disproved that lie the last time you said it. The Army has the lowest asvab requirement of all branches, has always had the lowest requirement, actually still accepts ged holders unlike all the other branches which stopped a few years ago and before that had the highest percentage of ged holders, has the most category iv recruits when the other branches disqualify them, and by every standard and measure is the least demanding service branch.

I'm not sure why either... just imagined all those blinking LEDs on boots and it went from there.

Whereas Marines just fail at concluding that there's a correlation between levels of wear and tear on boots, and the amount of walking done in them?

I didn't imagine the Army was that lazy! I would have thought the physical demands were maybe 80% of the Marines, not to the point where boots last us one year and soldiers 10!

I will say that being on a joint base you do realize the Army has a serious fitness problem. They don't run or hit the gym like Marines do and while fat Marines exist, the body composition program gives them months to shape up or ship out. As a result, fat Marines don't stay in long and you never see fat officers or staff ncos. Army captains and above and senior enlisted are often fat, at least from my experience.

It's a recurring thing actually and oerdin can confirm. Soldiers don't pt, don't hike, don't march, they go to the px or chow hall in pt gear or flip flops and pajamas, don't stand at attention for colors, and in general lack any sort of military bearing and discipline present in Marines.

I'm gonna guess it's because they have better and more useful things to do with their time than give a **** about salutes or colors. Let me put it this way. We aren't losing the war in Afghanistan because our soldiers lack discipline.

Al, you really need to tone the moto down. My eyes are rolling so hard they're threatening to unscrew themselves from their sockets.

You really are dumb. Do you suppose standards could have changed over the last 20 years? They change monthly, genius.

So you now claim your comment is 20 years out of date? Why bring up something you know is false?

Oerdin isn't including the subsection of the ASVAB that tests how ridiculously, outrageously camp gay you are. Of course the Marines always do well on that part and it boosts their overall score.

That is offensive to both service members and the LGBQT community, as well as women. It denigrates the thousands of service members who served and serve openly and minimizes the struggles of the tens of thousands who served in the closet and their hard fight for acceptance. It was only a few years ago that service members would be kicked out for being homosexual. In light of the continuing fight for equality, I expect you to apologize to the members of the LGBQT community who will read your intolerant post.

"Marines are Gay!" I am amazed by the maturity of you esteemed gentlemen. You single handedly manage to be puerile and offend both the LGBQT community and service members, veterans, and their families.
