The really big issue, the issue which pissed everyone off but which conservatives continue to ignore, is that there was selective enforcement of the law. Normal behaviors, like walking on the side of the street because there is no sidewalk and because the shoulder is muddy, became criminal offenses but only on the black side of town while this wasn't enforced on the white side of town. Out of 21,000 people in town 16,000 had outstanding warrants most for petty **** like above and then the town ran a debtors prison where people would be imprisoned over amounts as little as $20 but when they got out of jail over that $20 they would owe thousands of dollars.

It was an organized shake down system designed to extract money from blacks so whites wouldn't have to pay taxes to support the town. It was so out of control that 80% of the town's revenue came from inflated fines only inflicted on blacks. Is it any wonder people were angry? It truly was an obviously overt racist system by design.
Of course that might involve the 24 hour news cycle and SJWs stop telling them how racist white people are non-stop. Let's say you stop at the store on...

Most people should have realized the place had a ****ty police force before the DOJ report just by witnessing the idiotic ways they tried and failed to police the riots/protests.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

In my defense, it is rather obvious at this point that no one really cares if the Hands Up narrative surrounding the Brown shooting happened. It's also equally clear that people such as yourself who bought into it will never offer an apology to Officer Wilson. So it wasn't a particularly huge leap on my part.

Why does the Left want violent criminals like Brown not to be bothered by police?

A little more fact checking would help you understand the situation more clearly. DoJ used the "disparate impact" language in civil rights law. In doing so, they left some stones unturned. For example, there is a statement that blacks are twice as likely to be searched as whites. However, there are no statistics about how many of the searches resulted from warrants, nor is the response to the stop noted. Belligerence can also result in a search. The NY Times reports that 86% of the traffic fines were to blacks, not noting that 63% of the populations is black. The ratio of 1.36 is not unreasonable on its face, particularly if most were for equipment violations, eg broken tail light. Under privileged areas are notorious for under maintained cars.

The DoJ report is exactly what it should not be--an attack piece. Treat it as such.

                J

We're really sorry Mr Wilson that the racist police department that you work for wasn't actually guilty of this one particular crime.

Sorry Mr. Wilson that you had to lose your job, leave your home and live in hiding for the rest of your life. But thanks for your service!

Presumably the Ferguson police will be the ones issuing the apology to him, for creating or at least contributing to an environment where his guilt was immediately assumed?

And the people who tried to get his address, so they could "talk" to him?

Sounds like there's a crime in there somewhere. Arrest them, lock them up. Simple.
