Are you going to make it a crime to deny 'rape culture?"

    • one wonders how rape culture came up in a classical art and literature class.

        • The Buzzfeed article gives a lot more detail. It's an interesting case from a Freedom of Speech angle, though I am not sure if the college in question is public or private.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

          • Reed College is private (hence Freedom of Speech is not at play... unless there is an Oregon law that goes further than the US Constitution).

There are a few issues here. One is the ineffectiveness of these ****holes we call universities.

Spoken like a guy who was raised in a trailer and has never seen the inside of a university classroom.

                    • If it's a private university then meh whatever.

If you're disrupting class, the opinion you're presenting doesn't matter either.

FWIW I have made it through (almost) four years of college and have never gotten in any trouble for presenting conservative opinions on any topic, but I am at an engineering school.

                      • I think we ALL know that kid in college, regardless of right-wing or left-wing opinions, who wants to insert his or her political opinions into anything, even when they have absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand.

Given that it was his questioning of the 1 in 5 women in college will be raped statistic that got him his ban (and not the general douchebaggery they highlighted), it seems a bit of a harsh measure given the issues surrounding its validity.

That's not what he was kicked out of class for. You're an idiot. He was kicked out because he made women feel uncomfortable. Remember, that's what we're talking about?

So I assume that you are proposing censoring speech that makes women and your other minorities uncomfortable.
