I tried attacking a shark. I managed to hit it about a dozen times or so. Then it swam away like a little wuss.

I was in a much better position. There's some shallow water by the shore. The shark kept coming by. I stood on a rock. I saved my game. Then I went after the thing. The shark would swim around in a circular pattern. I'm not sure if it was aggro'ed and coming after me. But it would swim towards me, get close, I'd stab it, it would turn, then I swam after it stabbing it more times. I wouldn't go too far in case it turned around. There was one "oh shit" moment where I thought it had me. Luckily, I was able to jump back onto the rock.

It was late in the day too. I couldn't finish it off before it got dark. I stopped playing for a bit because the sun is shining into the room and making it difficult for me to see things when it is night in the game. I thought about turning up my brightness, but that seemed like too much work.
