Stranded Deep

New survival crafting game on Steam ($15ish). The premise is you are in a small jet crossing an ocean. It crashes. You have to survive on an island. No zombies. No other survivors. Just you.

I just started my first game. The game looks nice. The sun and clouds are pretty. Perspective is first-person.



I've just swam to the shore of a small island. Lets see if I can figure out what to do now. I've already seen a shark swimming around. I know you can kill them. That's going to be a goal. I hope I can stack up dead shark carcasses.

Anyone playing this?

So far, the game strikes me as very relaxing. I suspect I will be getting 50+ hours out of this title, minimum.

Factorio is multiplayer now.

I've been playing that, Civs, and This War of Mine. I don't think my video card will support this game

What is "This War of Mine"? I haven't heard of that one.

I managed to craft some basic tools. I didn't like the island I started close to, so I got in the life raft and paddled my way to another little island. Sharks are scary.

I started constructing my shelter. The day/night cycle is pretty cool. It's similar to Minecraft where the sun and moon both rise and set.

I haven't figured out how to open a coconut yet.

Real deserted island survival advice. If you can embed a branch in the sand to make it a spike, you should be able to peel off the outer husk. Then use a rock to crack it. You will lose some of the liquid, but you should be able to drink most of it.
