I didn't swype words. Just letters one by one.

You said you were trying out swype (or at least I think ), you can't just swype individual letters - that's still doing it the old fashioned way...

Yes, I swyped (what does the word mean BTW? I have a sneaking suspicion there lies the secret) each letter.
Maybe I should watch a youtube video.
But maybe later, now I'm meticoulosly absorbed in scratching my balls (aka doing pretty much nothing)

As in you swipe your finger across the screen connecting up the words you need. E.g. 'the' would mean keeping your finger on the screen and swiping your finger across each individual letter, 't-h-e', only releasing once you've spelled the word.

            AHA! Thanks!

And how do you overcome the urge to simply draw boobs or something?
Ok, one bridge at a time.

Dude, you have an internet-capable phone, the urge you should be overcoming is that of googling for porn.

Doh. All this time I wasn't actually using swype. Just drawing letters on a screen. Don't know how to activate swype.
                Bah forget about it

If you don't lift your finger and swipe it from one letter to the next, do you see a line and word suggestions? if so, then you have swipe turned on (the good thing is that you can still type words the regular way when it's on)

This thread prompted me to revisit swype, I'm now a convert.

Swipe is amazing. You'll have to revert to regular typing for words that aren't in your dictionary though.

Swipe or whatever the app was called on iPhone was horrible. I reverted to my normal keyboard quite fast.
