After reading it, that is. I've been writing, and writing, and writing, for ten years now. A thousand or more pages later, I'm satisfied with none of it, but there's nobody I know in-person to critique me; I write exclusively speculative fiction, and every writing group I can find on the Eastern Shore is primarily into detective novels, devotional literature, realistic contemporary fiction . . . stuff I would never write, and avoid like the plague. I take an excerpt to these groups, and get comments like, "it's well-written, but I have no idea what the hell is going on."
IIRC, I floated the idea of a Poly Writer's group about two years ago. I had some people offer to read my work, no interest in a group as such, so I just dropped the idea. Anybody want to read an excerpt? I've written about thirty-five pages (12pt doublespace) of an epistolary SF novel. I don't expect anyone to sit down and read thirty-five damn pages, but I can send as big a chunk as your goodwill can handle. Or I can send the whole wad and you read as much as you feel like before you get bored and go back to porn. Whichever. PM me an e-mail address if you're interested. Or just tell me if you know of an online WG for SF.
Also, I'm looking for some sort of portable writing device for when my PC is inaccessible, which happens annoyingly often. My criteria are:
Everything else is totally optional. Even internet access is more of a downside, since the possibility for distraction would outweigh the quick research opportunities. I have never owned an iWhatever or laptop, so I don't really know what's good. Any advice?

- Cheap (no Surface Pro 3, no matter what the commercials sing)
- Won't break right away
- Can run Word or OpenOffice
- Some sort of keyboard, onscreen or real
- Has USB port
- Plugs in or has long-lasting battery
