The report was criticised as being “shallow” by David Green of the centre-right thinktank, Civitas. He said that by focusing on taxes and benefits, the report had missed out some vital costs.

“People who migrate tend to be young, better educated and energetic. They make good employees here but they are a loss to their own country. If other European countries fail to prosper because their brightest and best have travelled to the UK, we are all worse off,” he said.
Hilarious watching the think tanks splutter in the face of this report. MigrationWatch came out with some desperate crap about how it might be fine now but in the future it would be a DISASTER!

I think the UK was really smart and forward thinking when it allowed the free movement of people from eastern EU members while much of western Europe didn't do the same. They got a lot of trained college grads in the prime of their lives plus this opens up a lot of future business opportunities.

I'm an economic migrant. I have paid hundreds of thousands of pounds in taxes and never claimed benefits. People who say no to migrants have no ****ing clue.

The UK had restrictions, it was other countries that were ok with eastern european immigration from the get go.
Oerdin does it bother you to be wrong all the time or are you now above that, you have transcended it and you don't even pay attention anymore?

On relevance, try to find a video with farage going to visit bulgarian roma.
It's hilarious. autism like phlegmatism meets terrorizingly and shamelessly extrovent people for endless laughs.

no this isn't true. the UK, ireland and denmark (i think) didn't apply restrictions for the 2004 entrants; other EU countries did.

                Oh. I didn't know that.

I was talking about Romania and Bulgaria though.

The number of Romanians and Bulgarians working in the UK has fallen since restrictions were lifted, according to official statistics. So what's going on?

                About 2004, you're right:

(baring that it was Sweden not Denmark)

Other countries applied restrictions to Bulgarians and Romanians. There is a matrix here:

Countries that took full restriction rights on Romania (i.e., to 2014) were Spain, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, UK, Malta. The UK wasn't really a standout. Most other countries probably didn't have restrictions as they weren't expecting any kind of fresh influx ("serious proof" as it was phrased).

In the 2004 round of EU expansion the UK opened right away while France and Germany came up with excuses as to why people from the new members couldn't be let in to work right away.

Well I guess it is free in Greece because the government just defaults and then the Germans pay for it.

                            • You're right of course, it isn't free. We all pay for it and in return receive a much better, more equitable and more cost effective service.

Which is why it's laughable that you dumbasses keep arguing against it.
