Stuck in traffic isn't fun with a manual, but on open road it's SOOO much more satisfying.

Let's take London and compare it to Chicago. I'm about 40 miles to the west/southwest of the city. If I drove on surface streets, it would be traffic light after traffic light... and would probably take me all day just to drive into the city. If I take the expressway, I can make it to the lakefront in about 35-45 minutes depending on traffic.
If I'm 40 miles outside of London, am I in a suburb? Is it still considered the party of the London metropolitan area?
I've looked at maps, but it's hard to get a feel for what conditions on the ground are. And short of following Google street view all the way out of town, I have no actual experience with the area.To us, it is the BEAST.
