For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

The timing of the senator's resignation is probably just so that the legislature is still in session and can finally give his daughter a permanent appointment to the job she's been serving in for over a year. I doubt there's actually any backroom dealing going on. In any case, the tobacco board job is apparently not happening. The man's sick and is also pretty conservative for a democrat plus from a conservative district so it's an open question whether he would have voted for the medicaid expansion anyway--not that the medicaid expansion ever had any hope of passing in the first place. It probably wasn't a corrupt deal; people who have the most reason to be pissed off at him like Chap Petersen say it isn't.
