Wait, he was at UCSB? Oh my god. If you can't get laid at UCSB you aren't trying.
If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

Yeah that's the real mystery. UCSB is like playing with the cheats on.

BTW just from looking at the background to that video I can tell exactly the area where he filmed it. It's the parking lot for the Goleta Pier, just off of the campus's main entrence, where, I forget the name of it as it has been 13 years, there is a famous seafood restaurant where my parents, grandparents, and extended family all had dinner the night of my college graduation. It's immediately adjacent to the campus, just east of the main entrance along the coast; BTW it is a great beach filled with college kids and law enforcement seems to have a live and let live attitude letting people drink and more or less do what they want. It is out of the jurisdiction of the IV foot patrol but it is far enough away from both Goleta and downtown Santa Barbara that neither of those agencies bother to police it. Folks, more or less, self police each other and that was pleasant.

And I loved every moment of it. Even Gomer Pyle could get laid there as long as he was honest and friendly. The chicks aren't even stuck up or gold diggers. You truly have to have something wrong with you if you're a guy who has lived there for years yet can't find a willing lady.

Oh, just like the 2001 rampage, where a guy drove his car at speed down Sabado Tarde (one street back from Del Playa) for two blocks, killing several people by running them over (incidentally it happened right in front of my house at the time, the current gunman is the son of a Hollywood director. What is up with the Hollywood types having sons who are so maladjusted they go on rampages killing people?

A Hollywood director believes his son, Elliot Rodger, was the gunman in a shooting rampage at a Southern California college town that left seven people dead and several others injured Friday night, a family attorney said. Attorney Alan Shifman told NBC News that the family of Peter Rodger, an assistant director on “The Hunger Games†film series, have not yet gone to Santa Barbara to identify his remains. The family is cooperating with police and investigators, Shifman said.

The aftermath of the 2001 incident did have a nice moment where the heads of the local Catholic, Lutheran, Baptist, Orthodoxed, and Jewish congregations lead everyone is a group memorial and prayer session. I hope to see such an event again as it is nice to see so many denominations working together in public. I understand a Muslim mosque has now opened in I.V., something which didn't exist 13 years ago, so it would be nice to see them join in a multidenominational memorial with the other groups.

That sounds right. Good seafood cocktails and locally caught crab & lobster.

It turns out just this year a big storm wave wiped out much of the restaurant and one person was swept out to sea. This is odd as there are several large islands off the shore at Santa Barbara and the islands normally block most waves.

History of mental illness. Owned 3 legally owned handguns + 400 round of ammo. Sounds about right.

One of the reasons I remember Goleta Beach and Goleta pier so well is because when I first moved to Santa Barbara, I was living in San Rafael dorms on campus, which was for transfer students, it was during the "week of welcome" before classes started, I ****ed a chick on the beach there. We started out jumping off the pier and climbing this rickety old wooden ladder so we could jump again, then balance beaming along the lower wooden braces of the pier between the water and the pier walkway (not that easy while waves are hitting the old wooden pier making the whole thing sway), then playing "I dare you...", which ended up with us skinny dipping and jumping off the pier naked. We ****ed on the beach after we swam to shore and that was when I learned what a horrible, horrible thing sand was when it gets into the wrong places. I was so enthusiastic and happy to get laid, at the time, I didn't notice it but in the morning, after I had slept off the drink, sand abrasion was a definite problem. I'm certain she also had problems from sand in her vajayjay. In short, gentlemen, sand sucks donkey balls, but I found out right then and there that UCSB was the school for me and that I had made the right choice to go there.

Sounds about right. Even here in California where the gun nuts complain the laws are too strict. The reality is they are not strict enough. Mental health checks along with tests to see if the moron even knows what the gun laws are would greatly help. It won't happen but I can dream about common sense.
