Why wouldn't just one drug be enough? Just overdose them with barbiturates or opioids.

Hollywood stars do it all the time so it can't be that hard.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

Many of these guys are drug tolerant.

How about gladiatorial combat ? I'm quite sure that a few of the more rabidly rightwing personalities here would be just thrilled to see convicts repaying their debt to society through pay per view ultraviolence.

Failing that- compulsory organ donation, or soylent green recycling.

Hearing about this is pretty disturbing, if you're going to execute people just use a firing squad, a lot of these other methods just seem to involve more suffering without much point besides trying to make the killing appear more clinical.

So 'ole Sparky is back. I hadn't heard about that.

The death penalty is pretty terrible in theory, but I guess I do feel some people need to die. Hitler, Bin Laden, etc are easy candidates. The guy from Knoxville that killed the 7 year old? If I was her dad, I would be happy to pull the trigger.

My question is this...IF you believe in the death penalty and that it is a deterrent to others, then wouldn't you want it to be known as the most painful experience you could imagine? Why hide the fact that death is painful with drugs that make it LOOK like just going to sleep.

Show people screaming in agony or the head catching fire as electricity surges through it if you want to get a true public opinion on if it should be legal or not.

They deserve as much respect as we would give a rabid dog: a quick and clean kill. I don't believe in wasting time inflicting unnecessary suffering when faster and more efficient ways of accomplishing the same end are available.

You'd be surprised. As a resident I once had a guy in the tank who had a blood alcohol level nearly 600 ( 0.60 ). He was admitted late at night, when the morning shift came on the nurses called because they were having trouble with him. When I arrived he was going full Hulk on us. I called for security. When security arrived he was standing in the hall breaking stuff and shouting threats at every one including some unknown people had had met the night before whom he blamed for turning him in. Hospital security arrived, assessed the situation and acted decisively - they opened a side door and let him out. Concerned about public safety I called the police and gave them the last know location of his car. It didn't matter, by the end of the day 3 people were dead.
There's been a lot of research in this area. Some people who are drug tolerant may truly be immune to overdoses, others not so much.
Yeah, I know that alcohol isn't the same as opiods and barbiturates, it affects more body systems and areas of the brain so you'd think that it';s lethality would be more difficult to develop tolerance to its lethality.
