Was only able to get two of the lug nuts off.

Loosen them in a star pattern, tighten them in a star pattern.

Maybe that's what I'll do next time. Instead I used my insurance's roadside assistance like a pansy.

If you think flats are tiring, try wearing heels.

These days, most tire irons that come with cars suck. It's never a bad idea to buy a real one and keep it in your trunk.

Yeah, my tire iron was quite puny next to the tow truck guy who came. I felt emasculated.

If you have a garage to store it, I'd recommend getting a floor jack (auto supply store, $30 or so).

I used to have 18 inch chrome wheels on one of my cars. In the winter, they came off. In the spring, they went on. There's nothing quite like raising your car with a few pumps of the jack.
                        (just remember the parking brake)

I have a cracked, sloping slab of concrete we call a driveway.

                                no

5 spoke... I may have pics

sold them on Ebay after trading the car in... this was 2004-5ish

Chrome wheels retain value quite well.
I sold them for slightly less than I originally paid... and had them for 4-5 years.

And since I was using the stock tires in the winter (and splitting the miles between the two sets), my tire related maintenance costs were very low. I did get hit once, but the accident wasn't my fault. The other person's insurance had to replace one of the 18 inch tires. They were $400 each.

Next vehicle I buy, I'm definitely spending between $3-5k extra just for rims. The resale value is great if they are in good condition. You get the benefit of splitting the wear on our tires between two sets of tires... halving the overall cost of tire maintenance through the life of the vehicle. Then, when the car is toast, sell the wheels.

Overall, you just save yourself a bit of money.
