We still have spectre gunships though

Yes, that is a goddamn full size howitzer sticking out the port side of that plane.
If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

I remember watching a video of an AC-130 using its howitzer to kill a single suspected Iraqi guerilla back in 2004 or 2005. He ran around dodging round after round. They fired 4 or 5 times before they finally brought him down, then fired one last round on his prostrate body just to be certain they got him.

It would be barbeque Godzilla time. Might be a little Haney tasting.

So I just watched this movie. Two observations:

              1. The movie sucked.
              2. The most unrealistic part was where the zip disks still worked after 15 years

That just reminded me of a lot of 90's movies that tried to predict future storage mediums... "WHOA MINIDISC" "YEAH DUDE, ITS A CD BUT LIKE SMALL. WAVE OF THE FUTURE MAN"

In fairness to the movie, Zip disks are exactly what would have been used in 1999. It's hilarious how few people even remember what those are. Was '99 really that long ago? Jesus, I'm 21. I shouldn't get to say things like that.

Zip disks were not widely used. They were available available. And some people did use them. Those people... are a very small percentage of overall computer users (back in the day). Zip disks were expensive (compared to more commonly used storage medium), and people just didn't need the extra space. I was taking classes at a community college around that time. In the computer labs, it was 3.5in disks... then USB sticks.

I dunno. I had a ZIP drive and all the computers at school had ZIP drives. I actually used them. I mostly used floppies until USB sticks came around though.

ZIP drives were great for backing up files, since they were like 100 or 250 MB. Floppies were good enough for most stuff though. Word documents or powerpoints usually didn't take more than 1.44 MB.

I want to completely reverse my position.

The fact that you used them.... qualifies zip disks as being "widely used".
