Bee tea dubs, peer-review is not a total failure (another something I don't recall saying). The great thing about science is that scientists get **** wrong all the time, but every single time that's ever happened, scientists were the ones correcting the mistakes. That kind of self-correcting mechanism is exceedingly rare (or non-existent) in other branches of inquiry. The peer-review process, flawed though it may be, is part of that mechanism.Click here if you're having trouble sleeping.

There was even a second hand book stall run by ex-nurses (for charitable purposes) where I managed to pick up books on Magritte and Braque, a comparative survey of British, American and Soviet Russian science fiction and an etymological dictionary.
That and a hunky cleaner from Cote D'Ivoire and a very handsome male nurse from Nigeria meant my stay went very smoothly.
Even when I inadvertently blurted out 'Jayne Mansfield' as I saw the surgeon who was about to take out my gallstone- he was wearing a leopard print surgical gown/apron.... luckily he was a wee bit older than me and did understand the reference.

If you want Elton John extravaganzas, then save your nickels and dimes now.
My eyesight is only now beginning its inevitable decline- I used to have only a very mild astigmatism in my left eye, but now I'm finding that very small print is almost unreadable in poor light.
Not bad though for 51, considering all the use my lamps have had.Vive la liberte. Noor Inayat Khan, Dachau.

And I have good health insurance.
