I'm going to rush out and write on a piece of paper that JESUS said his "gay lover" so a century or so down the road when someone looks at it, they'll realize that Jesus was Gay.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

The original story didn't include this part..

You're still not getting that there's no reason to believe this document is presenting literal truths about Jesus the historical figure. We know nothing about the context or authorship of this papyrus fragment. This simply isn't a compelling historical artifact about Jesus. It may be a compelling historical artifact of Egypt from the 6th to 9th centuries AD, but without more context it's hard to say. Remember, I say this as someone who in no way believes Jesus is the son of God or any other Christian belief.

After a lifetime of studying the various prophets from the Jewish Catskills, allow me to speculate.

We always hold hands. If I let go,"Jesus said to them, my wife." goes shopping.

"Jesus said to them, my wife "was at the beauty shop for two hours. That was only for the estimate. She got a mudpack and looked great for two days.. Then the mud fell off.

"Jesus said to them, my wife "and I went to a hotel where we got a waterbed. My wife called it the Dead Sea.

"Jesus said to them, my wife "asked me why Jewish divorces cost so much. I told her because they're worth it.

"Jesus said to them, my wife "loves Chinese food. I think that this is due to the fact that Won Ton spelled backward is Not Now.

I've been in love with the same woman for 20 years,"Jesus said to them, my wife." ever finds out who, she'll crucify me!
Ah yes, even more reasons to enjoy borscht belt humour.

Sounds like gnostic gospels which were written centuries after Jesus died. A lot of this sort of stuff popped up at the time though the Church worked hard to stamp it out as heretical.
Spot on. Some Gnostic texts refer to god as 'She'. Naturally, the established Church knew that god had a penis, not a vagina. See, if god was female, at least one city/cathedral/church would have a holy tampon reliquary.

The reason I personally find it interesting is because from what I understand a lot of the strict adherence to Jesus being a single celibate man came about after his death as the church took on its form and started organizing itself. Him being a single celibate man would actually have been rather remarkable for the period so when evidence appears that suggests he was married, that isn't just a bolt out of the blue, it's a piece of supporting evidence for what to me is a much more logical theory.

Given that the date is so much later it doesn't provide anything particularly game changing, but it's certainly interesting and it appears to support the idea that at least some branches of Christianity were ok with the idea of a married Jesus centuries after his death.

Do the branches of Christianity that have married ministers a couple of millennia after his death care about the issue?

I don't know, I assume we have Anglicans here who could say whether a single celibate Jesus is a major part of their religion or not.

I think it's reasonable to believe that someone who founded a major religion was in some ways remarkable.
