I am very pleased that a childish argument between DinoDoc and MrFun on one of my Facebook status updates was the catalyst to bring you back here... at least for a day or whenever.

I saw it and thought it seemed Apolyton-like. Then I saw the screen-names. On Facebook

I would be so embarrassed if I were you, Imran

Apolyton was here before Facebook and will probably be here after it as well. It's delightfully nostalgic returning to a forum where there is actual discussion. Facebook is a means to an end, Apolyton is a community.

Sooo. What have people been up to? I've been busy growing a beard, getting a doctorate and covering my arms in tattoos. It's been a very productive few years I assure you.
Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.

It fits well with the tendency toward lumberjack shirts and whisky drinking I've picked up.

You know what I've been up too... I think.

And yes, I'm not entirely sure why identifying screen names on Facebook is so bad - at any rate it may encourage folks to take their petty squabbles to Poly rather than my page.

Starting arguments on someone's FB wall is a bit like starting a fistfight at their house party.

I have manufactured a smaller version of myself. Now I have to teach him to poop in the potty.

Come to think of it, I don't recall when you left. If it was five years ago or longer, I'm married now, so there's that.

to answer your question, i'm pretty much living the american dream:

Got married, had a kid, got divorced, and now i live hovering just above the poverty line. i've got full custody of my son, though, so i've got that going for me.
