And heck, it's been shown that contraception has reduced the rate of abortions. So on a religious and economic matter (abortions & childcare when parents aren't financially ready for kids are more costly than contraception), I think its a good idea.

In what way is it not a routine cost? Do you expect insurance to cover your toothpaste purchases as well? FFS, insurance is supposed to be protection against risk not be a catch all for everyday, normal expenses.
