I see where he comes from, the father's paid off time after birth is not normal elsewhere. Perhaps a bit exaggerated though? As a Norwegian I also have a distinct need to put down Swedes, but I'm not sure it's that bad Kid.

I know there are some places, but it's not normal most places. How long is it in Belgium btw? In norway you can get 48 weeks total between the parents on 100% salary, or 56 weeks on 80%. 3 weeks before and 6 weeks after birth is for the mother, 12(or 14? There have been some rule changes lately) weeks are for father/co-mother. Rest is up to the parents to divide amongst themselves.

That's great but I think you have a similar divorce rate with the US, right? Why stay at home with your kids if it is going to end up in the future that you are just a visitor and now you have sacrificed some earning potential. The goal in feminists countries is to get father's to stay at home with kids but why should they? In the end they don't actually get respect for it, just praise for obeying mommy.

I understand that but your employer is probably not too happy about it and wonders how many times are you going to do that.
I don't get your point. Do you have issues with men getting parental leave and you'd prefer it that only women are eligible? Or do you want men to be eligible but not women? Or neither?

In Norway, we've moved away from such silly sentiments.

I support family leave for men, but really it's a sacrifice. But yes they should have that right.
