      There's a pill for that.

You've never given a 9 year old Percocet for strep throat? What kind of monster are you? Don't you care about how your patients feel? How willl they know you really care unless they get that endorphin high feeling whenever they think of you?

While that article may be The Onion it pretty much describes the current state of practice of medicine in America. For the past 15 years the powers that be in America have continually told us that we're just not managing pain well enough despite the fact that the death rate from prescription opiods has increased 5 fold, the US now consumes 80% of the worlds' production of opiods, 20% of the population take opiods on a regular basis and 40% will take a prescription of opiods at least once this year.

I had fun with the 30 percs I was given when they pulled my wisdom teeth.

I found oxy to be highly overrated and very uneventful. The ****tiest weed I ever smoked was more fun than that.

Percocet was fun when I took it for my wisdom teeth. But it's not something I'd be tempted to abuse, honestly. You feel pleasantly sleepy, and that's nice, but I wouldn't want to be like that on a regular basis.

So you're saying it's like having kids, except you actually _can_ go to sleep?

Deeply skeptical. I mean, for ****'s sake, you really think Virginia is worse than Ohio when it comes to prescription painkillers?

I know this is Apolyton, so facts aren't appropriate; but http://www.cdc.gov/HomeandRecreation...ef/states.html suggests that neither VA nor OH are particularly bad, compared to their friendly neighbor West Virginia.

That said, I'm going to trust the licensed and practicing doctor over the college student on this one (though if this were about weed the opposite might be more appropriate ) Doc never did say that VA was the worst state, just that it was bad objectively.

Doc's exaggerated a number of things here before. Such as how somehow some nonexistant food stamp interruption resulted in a number of patient visits. I'm not inclined to trust him on this.

Furthermore, Guynemer is licensed in Ohio, so there is an implicit comparison. Do you really believe in Virginia you can't get licensed if you aren't handing out percocet for ****ing strep throat? For ****'s sake. I know for a fact my pediatrician would have never ever have done that.
