WTF? That's absolutely not illegal in virginia.

Doesn't have to be illegal for someone to file a complaint with the medical board.

That's true anywhere. Presumably the complaint gets tossed, like a frivolous lawsuit.

Guynemer, do you have any patients whose parents refuse to have them vaccinated and if so, what do you do about it/say to them? Just curious.

With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

              Are you a wizard?

If they continue to refuse, I ask them to find another physician.

A word of warning: we are in the middle of influenza season, and influenza can be extremely dangerous to babies his age. So if he develops a fever, it would be wise to have him checked out at his doctor's office. We are also in the middle of RSV season, which is a rather nasty virus that can cause some babies to wheeze as if they were having an asthma attack. This can range from trivial to life-threatening. So if you hear an expiratory wheeze, or his nose is flaring with every breath, or his chest wall sinks in in between or above or below his ribs with every breath, call his doctor.
RSV indeed. Oddly enough, our 10 month old probably got RSV (went around the daycare), but never had any serious symptoms beyond a cough that took a month to go away (no wheezing, no fevers). Mommy on the other hand caught it and had to get some albuterol... which she isn't taking like the horrible patient she is

Unfortunately he got bronchiolitis from suspected RSV. Tuesday and Wednesday really sucked. He still has a terrible cough but he appears to be on the mend.

I just worked 16 hours straight on 2.5 hours of sleep. He kept us up pretty constantly.

                      I am tired.

Sorry to hear that KH, hope he gets better soon! Avoided bronchitis and its relatives with my two so far (except mommy) but looots of ear infections between them, I know the feeling...

Poop. Well, the good news is that he seems to be getting better; generally speaking, once they start getting better, they keep getting better until it is gone. Usually, the really nasty breathing problems are gone within a week, but the general cold symptoms could linger on for a month (or even two).

RSV shouldn't make an adult wheeze, unless they are predisposed to wheeze in the first place, such as having mild intermittant asthma.

Just as a layman who's had an albuterol puffer in his pocket for years: you shouldn't take it if you don't need it. I think resistance can build up, then you can be in trouble if you really need it.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

Just got my refill yesterday, BTW, along with a bottle of codeine cough syrup and a diagnosis of viral bronchitis. I was wondering why the puffer wasn't having its usual effect...

I don't think she had it confirmed as RSV (rather, as probably-viral bronchitis), but the timing made it seem likely given several confirmed RSVs at daycare. She did have mold-induced asthma a few years ago, so perhaps that's that.

TMM, understood, but she wasn't taking it even when she did need it
