Let's walk away from fast food for a moment, and consider other chain restaurants, like Applebee's, or Longhorn Steakhouse, or On The Border. Have you seen the calorie and sodium counts in those meals?
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

      Applebee's.

The sodium, oh God, the sodium!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Longhorn Steakhouse. Mmm.

When "Chips & Salsa" has the lowest sodium content by far amongst the appetizers... Bad sign.

Of course, it's popular. That's why I picked it.

Actually things have improved from years ago, when Consumer Reports and Men's Health independently started doing their Restaurant nutrition articles years ago, seeing 8,000 mg of sodium was not unusual.

God damn! Some of their appetizers, not even main meals, have 6110 mg of sodium. That's like three days worth of salt right in one APPETIZER!

I definitely do not eat in those places. I eat very little restaurant food aside from allowing my vice of chicken wings on a somewhat regular basis.

I think TMM's point was that there isn't much difference between "fast food diners" and "chain restaurant diners" so why does fast food get all the ****? I'm sure that typical fast food meal is less in calories than the typical chain restaurant meal.

For a quick burger, I think I'd go Wendy's > McD's > BK, though McD's Bacon Habenero Quarter Pounder is actually quite tasty (and actually has some kick, which I was pleasantly surprised to find out).

Can't eat at Wendy's. They have square burgers, which are an abomination.

Well, yeah... personally if I was having a sit down diner, I'd go to someplace that serves decent food and doesn't overkill it with fat or salt. Fast food is for lunch or if I need to eat something quick.

I always thought Carl's Jr/Hardee's was better than all of those places. JitB seems to be about the same as Wendy's though they do try harder to introduce new stuff which other fast food places don't offer. Instead of regular shoe string french fries you have the option of waffle cut sweet potato fries, spicy curley fries, bacon cheddar potato wedges, onion rings, egg rolls (three of them), stuff jalapenos, a side salad, or apple bits. That's just the sides while the main menu and the dessert menu is also pretty unique in the fast food world.
