Guy, I'm 21, do I actually need a flu shot? My impression was that if you are young it's not nearly as important.

I can't remember the last time I got a flu shot. It must have been at least 10 years.

I may have had the flu once. I never identified what laid me out for several days about 10 years ago. Should I be concerned that as I get older I may have almost no resistance to it when I do catch it?

I could be patient zero of the 2029 flu!

Between the ages of 7 and 21, I caught every annual bout of flu. Every one, without fail.

And now I haven't caught it in 20 years. I think my immune system is battle-hardened into Terminator status.

Watch out for the truly delightful secondary chest infection. I have produced so much phlegm and mucus in the past few weeks, it just may petition for citizenship rights. I have been consuming lemon juice, honey, chilis and ginger by the bucketfuls with copious amounts of hot sauce of one variety or another slathered on foodstuffs to at least give them the semblance of taste. Also ears have felt as though there are melted marshmallows in there making listening to music almost redundant.

Luckily was invited to a church dinner where my friend worships, so had some excellent spicy African food and a potent (non-alcoholic) ginger drink that the rest of the people at my table shunned because they felt it was too strong.

It hasn't helped that the weather has been chilly, moist and the air seems permanently claggy- that's when there isn't a gale blowing or hailstones and rain.

In 2013, I got the flu thrice. Once shortly after I took the vaccine, around january. Then again in early june and then lastly in august. And I normally don't have the flu more often than once every few years. The vaccine is not necessarily to blame though, it was for one particular flu that is bad for diabetics.

For a relatively healthy adult, TMM is right. Probably most important to keep it from spreading to those more vulnerable.

I had thai food last night and it was awesome. cleared me up for a few hours. I feel better today, except for some lower intestinal cramping that I always get when I'm sick on account of me having a tumultuous lower intestinal track (I'm gassy as the day is long)
