Will Smith wasn't awesome in that movie because he was a Marine, dumbass. He was awesome because he was Will Smith. Really, that movie is about achieving the impossible despite having the all the cards stacked against you--he managed to defeat the alien menace despite being a US Marine. That's overcoming adversity
If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

Except in Stargate, whenever there's an alien threat in Hollywood, they call the Marines.

Would it be possible to make artillery that can fire shells into space?DISCLAIMER: the author of the above written texts does not warrant or assume any legal liability or responsibility for any offence and insult; disrespect, arrogance and related forms of demeaning behaviour; discrimination based on race, gender, age, income class, body mass, living area, political voting-record, football fan-ship and musical preference; insensitivity towards material, emotional or spiritual distress; and attempted emotional or financial black-mailing, skirt-chasing or death-threats perceived by the reader of the said written texts.

The only other one I can think of was Battle: Los Angeles and that movie was ****ing awful. And Independence Day was mostly USAF. On the other hand, Man of Steel was US Army/USAF.Originally posted by Al B. Sure! View PostExcept in Stargate, whenever there's an alien threat in Hollywood, they call the Marines.

Yes. You may not consider it strictly artillery, but it's a similar idea. It reaches space but not orbital velocity. If all you're trying to do is hit the bad guys, it'd take a lot less fuel, because you just need to reach their altitude, not stay there.Originally posted by Colon™ View PostWas that a reply to my question? If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?
