The bandage they gave me was basically rubber cement and plastic strips.

It's not being an overpriveleged doucehbag to understand that if they charged money for the ER, it would solve the scarcity issue (i.e. people having to wait for 5 hours or more which is how long I was likely to be waiting) while also providing the money necessary to expand services to meet demand.

For example, I knew a guy who dropped a knife onto his foot. The rational course of action for him was to go to an urgent care center. Instead, he went to the ER, waited around for 2 hours, got angry, left, and then went to his college's health clinic nearly half a day later.

Honestly I'm glad I went to the ER because it reinforced my understanding of why it's important that healthcare cost money to people, and not be paid for by the government.
