It's looking like some inspired selections there.

Sure but it should never have gone up? It's not long after that announcer got fired.

BTW - I think that was a good day for you. If you get 350/380, we probably won't win, and might struggle to draw. Those 3 dropped catches are going to be crucial.

Oh hey, England selectors. Maybe we should have played Bell at 3 and had Onions in the team?

Johnson 7-40. That's just a slaughter. And with the lead over 500 it makes no difference that England have two spinners. This series looks like it'll be a whitewash.

In a fairly desperate attempt to look for positives, I'll note that 312 is a pretty good second-innings score, Prior finally remembered how to score runs, and Johnson ran out of steam.

Now all we need is for Cook to stop being useless.

I think there is an argument to relieve him of the captaincy so he can concentrate on batting, as he's not doing a great job there, but the negative connotations of that are so high that it's probably not a reasonable choice, and there's no obvious replacement.

Clarke has been great Captaining again.

The tail wagged. I rather enjoyed watching Broad getting a few runs and telling Johnson to stop channelling Dennis Lillee and acting like a goose. It needed to be said.

It's funny to note that, back in the summer, we were being told that Australia's batsmen had been ruined by the shorter-form game and were now incapable of batting in tests.

They were 100% right, except they used the word "Australia" where they should have used "England".

and now on to Perth, where the ball will rear up visciously off a good length

                              My England selection-

                              Cook
                              Carberry
                              Bell
                              KP
                              Root
Stokes (OK- he's earned another go)
                              Prior
                              Broad
                              Bresnan
                              Anderson
Rankin (Might as well give him a go- it makes more sense in Perth than anywhere else).

Well, they kept Swann in and he's already taken wickets. Not a bad start for England there.

                                They'll want Haddin out fast.
