      • My pop group name was Blue Humus. I'd like to imagine we could go gold.

        • Never say die.

Here is what appears to me to be a modern solar power outfit in Cebu which does work in other places. When we sell the Jagna house I'm thinking of asking them to take us, and the new business, off grid. That way no matter what comes along if the house survives the juice survives.

Is that area open to the elements? You've got all that nice wood. Don't you get typhoons? Won't that get ruined?

            • Sava, its a poured concrete base with tile over. The posts are 4" PVC have metal bar and poured concrete inside. The wood, railing and balusters are ipil ipil, more dense than oak. Drop it in water and it sinks. So its pretty tough. The roof, yes that would likely blow away, and the 1/4" plywood that makes up the ceiling. The roof structure itself would remain I think once the sail area was reduced.

We are not in the traditional typhoon track although typhoons don't always obey the rules of the road. We've had a couple strong ones pass nearby which made us nervous. Still, I built with a typhoon in mind. The 4th floor of the structure on the right is meant to blow through. That is the woven amakan would blow off and the plastic waterproofing tarps under. Then a storm would remove the inner 1/4th inch plywood. With all that stuff blown away the sail area is much reduced, leaving the structure intact.

The 3rd floor of the 4 story is already open, that's the bar floor. Wind can readily pass through it. If I had enough advance warning I'd remove the wood privacy screens beforehand and let the wind go where it wants. The floor of the 3rd is poured concrete and waterproof, protecting the lower floors. There is little chance here of a tsunami as Bohol is completely surrounded by other islands.

Carpenter and carpenter's assistant taking an unofficial break after working overhead. There are better looking pics of the bar on WPC where there's moderation (me) if you want to see how it looks now.
