        • Power is out again ... but it was a good day

I think they made a point to get power back on the day of the elections (which had been postponed in many places in the Visayas until today). Now that everyone has voted, they can turn it off again...

          • How are things going now, recovery wise?
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

            • Sounds like it's improving, in your area, at least. How many sinkholes are there?
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

              • I think the count is up to well over 1000 sinkholes. Most probably didn't have a house on them, but some did. On the bus route through Tagbilaran there's one (very big) house where half of it looks to have dropped about 5 feet.

                • Is it mostly limestone out there or just loosely consolidated sediments with lots of subsurface seepage due to all the rain?

I know your geology background. I wish you would geek out on us more with geology talk. It makes me feel good in my special place.

                        • Thanks for the heads up

One of the good things about not having a roof on the house yet is I don't have to worry about the roof blowing away at least! The bad part of that is, not having the roof yet. Hopefully we will have it up in July before the rains really start though.

Place sounds like its really coming along. Got any pics? Uncle Iking did a great job on Zkrib's place. He and his sons could have your roof on in no time...

Hope this storm doesn't get too strong.

                            • It's coming along pretty well. No finishing work yet, but the first floor is livable. CR and some sinks ... doors and windows (still need the glass for the windows though.) With so much of the family visiting for Fiesta, even Pa Rey and the boys, sometimes Aiza, are staying out here.

I'll put up a thread with some pics later. Nice thing about out here is the internet is a lot faster, line of sight with the new cell tower

Alturas Glass has vinyl clad windows. I remember being pleased at the price but no details. They send a guy out to measure then do the installation.

                                Abby and the windows.
