Seawater is highly corrosive, you would be asking for greatly increased costs for resistant materials, and even then time and money needed for maintenance would be enormous.

Plus he clearly does not care about leaving behind a salted wasteland. Roman style!

Do you need freshwater for hydraulic fracking?
If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

What you do with the used water would be a significant problem, salted or not. Not insurmountable, but significant.

Leave it in the ground. Cleaning up costs money.

Leave the crops in the fields. Harvesting and planting costs money.

I meant leave the polluted water in the ground.

Really not a good idea. It's going to come back up eventually, and it's better to do so under controlled circumstances.

But like I said, cleaning up costs money.

Business costs money. You have to spend money to make money.

Cleaning up just costs money. It doesn't make money. It's cheaper to deny that the polluted water is bad. We'll call it "freedom water".

Salt changes the surfactant properties of the other chemical additions to the water. Could be done, but would require reformulating the mixes. Also would leave a plant less wasteland behind.

Isn't it already a desert wasteland?
