The shocking part is the mean net worth of the 99% that remains, silly.

In terms of net worth, how is a house with a mortgage dealt with?
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

A mortgage is obviously a liability.

Are the houses considered an asset for net worth, or are they considered the property of the bank for the purposes of the calculation?

              Why this question?

The house is an asset, the mortgage is a liability.

I think it's the former. If someone owes $100k and they own a house worth $200k then they have $100k in net worth. The $100k they owe is part of the net worth of the bank's shareholders.
