I see. So how is "we can reward intelligence and hard work or not reward them" a false dichotomy...?

The dichotomy is he's claiming you necessarily reduce incentive no matter what action you take that results in income disparity that isn't exactly what we have right now. It is verifiably false, as incentive exists (in even stronger forms actually) in cases where people have little to no wealth. It is also ignoring that there are a huge range of possibilities, rather than just one alternative.

There is no way he's claiming that since he often complains about how inefficient he thinks the tax system is, meaning that through tax reform the poor could certainly be made better off without giving the "working rich" less incentive to generate income. He's only asserting that a tradeoff exists between inequality and reducing people's motivation to produce and that even if policymakers take an ideal course of action we can still expect large disparities in net worth among individuals.

Then he should have expressed that in a way that wasn't contradictory to it.

I can see how someone in your position would hope that others would reduce their tendencies of pointing out of flaws in statements made ...

You weren't pointing out any "flaws". You just took someone's post too literally and then wrote a long winded and boring rebuttal to your interpretation of what they posted.

That's much better. Could you make all of your posts that short?

If you pay enough to Philippine Red Cross to make it worth my while ... I will never post more than 3 characters on this forum in any post ever again.
