Actually, even if we grant you the false supposition that finances are and should be the only decision driver, you are wrong, HC. Think licensed apparel -- $30 caps and T-shirts, $75 sweatshirts, etc. etc. It's a major revenue stream. And a name change would create a huge market for old-name logo merchandise AND a significant ling-term market for new-name logo merch.

Also they already have the ability to sell this year's t shirts to the owners of last year's. New players join the team, people buy jerseys, they get a championship, they get the championship shirt, etc. There's no good reason to change the name.

Furthermore, the notion that it's insensitive is pretty retarded. When you call yourself something, it's not derogatory.

Actually anyone who really wants to keep the redskins name probably would get over it in a week or two if the name changed. Nobody is a fan of the redskins because their name is the redskins.
