I'm not worked up. I was trying to have fun at the name change and try to be creative with a new one.
You only seem to be interested in topics where race is an issue. Most of the time, I'm on here *****ing about Republicans. Racism pisses normal people off. Don't be racist.

No it doesn't. Normal people are racist, they just put on a pretense of not being racist out in public. What pisses them off is other people ignoring that social standard.
        John Brown did nothing wrong.

And a name change would create a huge market for old-name logo merchandise AND a significant ling-term market for new-name logo merch.
This is serious ****ing bull****. It'd turn off a huge number of fans to the franchise. They would not get new revenue, they would lose old revenue. It's new coke. Also they already have the ability to sell this year's t shirts to the owners of last year's. New players join the team, people buy jerseys, they get a championship, they get the championship shirt, etc. There's no good reason to change the name.

Furthermore, the notion that it's insensitive is pretty retarded. When you call yourself something, it's not derogatory.

Anyway, the name isn't going to change. The guy who owns it has said as much. There isn't any pressure anyone can put on him to make him change it, either. The whining of a bunch of dumbasses with nothing better to do than complain about a sports team name is not something he is going to care about.

By the way, finances should be the only decision driver. The sensibilities of a tiny group of people are irrelevant.

In all seriousness if the name bothers you please jump down a well. The world's better off without you.

Let's put this in perspective. People in DC don't want the name to change. DC, which is a city full to bursting with PC asshole morons. The ads that the supposedly offended parties are putting out are in the Dallas media market. That's right, cowboys fans. OK? So no one cares.

Actually anyone who really wants to keep the redskins name probably would get over it in a week or two if the name changed. Nobody is a fan of the redskins because their name is the redskins.

Also your qualitative sense of numbers is so backwards HC:

A huge number of fans would leave if the name changed, but only a tiny amount of people are wanting a change? Let me ask you, do you follow sports blogs at all?

Most fans don't care and the owner doesn't want to change. Why is this an issue?

Because it's wrong and doing the right thing is important.

It's no surprise conservatives can't understand this. They have an inability to understand basic morality.

Correct. Perhaps you could explain what the benefit to the team is when the vast majority of its fans can't bring themselves to care about the issue and the owner doesn't want to change?

No, I don't follow sports blogs, but I've read a few polls. Almost no one really cares about this. I feel fairly certain that if the polling is not reflected in blogs it's just a case of the noisiest people being the ones who want it changed, and an enormous silent majority of those who don't.

Which is it? People don't care? Or people don't want it changed?

Cause Dan Snyder is confirming that not only is he a cheap, greedy *******, he's also totally okay with racial slurs. Basically we get to whip Dan Snyder and those who are like him for being who they are.

Redskins isn't a racial slur, it's the name of a ****ing football team. Sort of like 'kleenex' isn't a trademark anymore, it's just tissue paper. Take a typical conversation among the gays to illustrate how your white guilt sounds to sane individuals. "Mr Fun did you just JACK IT AGAIN?" "Yes Asher I used a kleenex while watching daniel day lewis portray the abe lincoln " "No you didn't that's off brand ."

They'd better rename that team too just in case any real cowboys get offended. So far none have voiced any complaints, but you can't be too careful.
