Money is easy to spend (as an alternative to passing it on). I was thinking more about your sanity day to day. You work in a high stress job. If you can take it for that long, it just isn't about the money. For you, I suspect the stress is something you enjoy... in addition to the coping mechanisms. No stress, no need to cope.

And you aren't a psychopath, I don't think. Did you torture animals or anything like that?

No, I do not enjoy the pain of others (I highly dislike it). When I want people to suffer it is a triumph of the rational over the emotional (I don't mean to turn this political, but I am incentive and informational effects as hugely important).

I'm opposed to death taxes, the people with money should get to pass it on to whomever they want - its their property, taking it when they die enslaves them

          That's good.

Politics is such bull****. Sometimes I wish we didn't talk so much about it on these forums.

Yes. All that money. They are such slaves.

If you retire, someone else will get your job. You'll take all that money to various places around the world where working at dive resorts tends to be one of the better jobs available... and where the money will do a lot more good to the local economy than if you stay working and spending it at restaurants owned by people so rich they won't even notice if you're not there.

So really, it is charity if you retire.

Sure, those things do contribute to happiness, but regardless of what you do it's unlikely that your children will suffer enough from want for it to significantly affect their overall level of happiness. I guess you could leave them the challenge of achieving a comfortable lifestyle if you think that's important.

Put it in a trust fund that gives your son a million when he's 18, and then simply matches all his gains. This way he'll not be deprived of his inheritance, but will have to earn it.

I missed the birth announcement (or is this the birth announcement?). Anyway, congratulations!
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

                        55. Assuming good health, that's an excellent deal.

Onodera has the right idea. I believe in paying for a good education and a bit of a head start in life. The rest is up to the child. I will probably work until I'm 55 or so, but that is mainly because my wife will not be ready to retire until then too. I think being retired on my own would be boring.

It would be the perfect means of lowering taxes on the living and eliminating the structural wealth gap. Imagine, no more Paris Hilton like idiots running around.
