Cassettes were a wretched medium for music. Anyone with any lingering fondness for them has no ears.
Their only real value was for making tape loops, as long as the end product was recorded to a better medium as swiftly as possible. The genesis of the "evil Finn" concept- Evil, evil Finland

Yes. Cassettes sucked. I have no nostalgic feelings for them. My music library now can just about fit onto a single SD card in my phone.
If the cost justifies, let tape be used for backups... like in case the world gets EMPed. Otherwise, go away. I never want to see you again, tapes. To us, it is the BEAST.

Cassettes were a step up from records, which were inordinately difficult to actually record on. With cassettes, timid virgins in high school could make mix tapes for the pretty girls who "loved" them but weren't "in love" with them.John Brown did nothing wrong.

I have fond memories of taping songs off the radio because I couldn't afford to buy CDs for every song I liked. The tapes always wound up being a crazy mish mash of parts of songs, since I'd miss the first few bars, and inevitably tape over old bits.John Brown did nothing wrong.

So you were an entitled THIEFPIRATE taking advantage of radio being broadcast over public airwaves?Originally posted by Felch View PostI have fond memories of taping songs off the radio because I couldn't afford to buy CDs for every song I liked. That kind of tape I like. In 1930, the Republican-controlled House of Representatives, in an effort to alleviate the effects of the... Anyone? Anyone?... the Great Depression, passed the... Anyone? Anyone? The tariff bill? The Hawley-Smoot Tariff Act? Which, anyone? Raised or lowered?... raised tariffs, in an effort to collect more revenue for the federal government. Did it work? Anyone? Anyone know the effects? It did not work, and the United States sank deeper into the Great Depression. Today we have a similar debate over this. Anyone know what this is? Class? Anyone? Anyone? Anyone seen this before? The Laffer Curve. Anyone know what this says? It says that at this point on the revenue curve, you will get exactly the same amount of revenue as at this point. This is very controversial. Does anyone know what Vice President Bush called this in 1980? Anyone? Something-d-o-o economics. "Voodoo" economics.
