NPR has a nice series about poverty in America and this map tells pretty much all you need to know about which states have policies which really work and which states have policies which are a dismal failure.
My ass. Violent crime rates are sky high in much of the south where as most of the north has a fraction of the violent crime (the exception being redneck western mountain states). Just check out the gun violence map by state.
You'll also notice that despite Republican claims to know how best to run an economy red states tend to be the poorest ****holes in the country, with the highest violent crime, with the lowest education levels, and the highest poverty rates while northern states are by and large the exact opposite. OH, and southerners are also the fattest bastards in the country by far.

The graphic is stupid bull****; but if he wants to post something citing Illinois, NY and NJ as less violent than California, let him feel free.

You're far, far, far more likely to use the gun on a family member or yourself than on anyone else (those two catagories take up ~75% of all shootings; suicides make up ~60% just by themselves). Especially compared to a robber or violent attacker. That's just a fact and is not open to debate because this has been true for as long as anyone has kept records and studied how guns were used. That's true even if you don't like it.
More people die in the US from firearms than in motor vehicle accidents and ~3/4ths of those are either suicides or shootings of family members.
The stats you present show deaths. Your claim is that "You're far, far, far more likely to use the gun..." The flaw in your reasoning is assuming that all firearms use results in fatality. Most firearm use results in a miss. Deaths are the exception, not the rule. Suicides and domestic murders make up a disproportionate number of deaths because it's much easier to shoot yourself in the head or to murder a helpless family member than it is to shoot a threatening criminal while under stress.
Of course, I fully expect you to personally attack me, call me an idiot, then suddenly disappear from this thread when I post a bunch of links showing how I'm right and you're a MSNBC watching partisan ******. So I'll just head you off right now with a quickie from NCBI showing that police officers suffer significantly reduced accuracy while under stress.
Crap like this is far more common than someone with a CC shooting a robber. Of course, by far, and I mean really really by far, the most common use of these guns is suicide or all to commonly murdering family members and then committing suicide. That's a fact.
Which is why you provided a source for each of those three claims, right?

You just don't get it. By Oerdin saying "Fact", that makes it a fact. References, schmeferences. Who needs them when you have "Fact"?

Why is Chicago the murder capital of the United States then?
If this study is to be believed CC permit holders appear to commit less crime than the public at large at least with in the State of Texas, why is that given the "facts" you failed to support earlier?

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio
