The at home test is most likely just an oxygen level recording. If your levels are low during the night, then they will recommend a sleep test. If you feel, or your Dr feels, you are pretty sure to have it, then save the $$ and just do the sleep test. The good side of doing the oxygen test is that it is relatively cheap...around $45.

No. I got my machine after an in home test.

The gear they gave me measured respiration, heart rate and oxygen levels.

One way is by shining a strong light through a fingertip with a special clip that also mounts a detector that measures the redness (saturated red blood cells makes it redder).
