Yes it kind of does DinoDoc. They're not arresting people because it's traditional that they look the other way for this festival. It's an opportunity for the Police to on the side of the common people instead of simply "Pigs". Passing out Doritos is the same thing. They're reminding people that it's normally illegal to do it in public. I think this is a much more effective approach that pissing people off like when the festival first started years ago.

This is more the approach our local police took when we where younger. They didn't arrest you for the minor crap, but instead just took you home for your parents to deal with. But this was also during the era where when we were teenagers and they caught us with beer in the car they'd wouldn't wreck our lives, they'd simple pour it out and make sure we got home save and warned us not to do it again. (yeah that was probably overboard) But guess what, as a result we didn't grow up hating the police, we actually believed that they were there to serve and protect. Think how much better a lot of areas would be today if the same type of respect was fostered.

And as JR said, there are 85000 of them and would just be ludicrous to attempt to arrest them all. So why try. Better to take what advantage you can from it.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

You shouldn't make fun of DD for working at wal-mart. Sometimes you don't get much choice in such matters.

But regardless, DD is still an idiot and a horrible person. So making fun of him for any reason isn't the worst thing in the world.
To us, it is the BEAST.

And if a handful of police started ticketing people in a crowd of 85k offenders, you think there is any outcome that would be good in the public's interest how?

Then why have the law against public use? I also don't believe all 85,000 will be using in public but maybe that's just foolish.

There's not going to be a riot over handing out tickets and how hard could it be to control a bunch of toked up stoners anyway?

Presumably they have a permit for the festival, so it's not illegal at the festival. The article does address that...

and that - festivals aside - public use is illegal.

The idea isn't just to satisfy some munchies. The department has affixed labels to 1,000 bags of Doritos urging people to check out a question-and-answer post on its website, titled "Marijwhatnow? A Guide to Legal Marijuana Use In Seattle." It explains some of the nuances of Washington's law: that adults can possess up to an ounce but can't sell it or give it away, that driving under the influence of pot is illegal, and that - festivals aside - public use is illegal.
dinodoc, whats it like going through life being illiterate?

                    Edit: dammit snoopy.

Yeah. I would guess that over 1/2 the crowd would be partaking and that trying to control 40K stoners would be like herding cats.

Does this extend to alcohol users? What a bizarre opinion.
