  • Really? Texas does this AGAIN?

Just a few months back we had a case where police in Texas were illegally performing body cavity searches on women on the side of the road in full view of passing cars but here we are with Texas's finest doing it yet again! It's like they were too stupid to learn the first time.

2 More Women Pulled Over, Internally Probed On Public Road By TX Troopers (VIDEO)

What amazes me about this story, is not only is this an illegal, sexually-violating police search, but that it happened on a public road, for anyone driving by to see. These two women were pulled over, for allegedly throwing a cigarette out of the car window. They were given full body internal searches.

Gloves were not changed between probes, nor were they changed between women. Under Texas law, this is considered sexual assaults/rape.

    Texas Penal Code Sec. 22.011. SEXUAL ASSAULT. (a) A person commits an offense if the person: (1) intentionally or knowingly: (A) causes the penetration of the anus or sexual organ of another person by any means, without that person’s consent;

And after all of that - no ticket was issued. The incident happened last December and the women are now filing suit.

This is not the first time a search like this has taken place, reported, or become news. Here is the video of another incident where two women are searched and internally probed on the side of the road. One woman yells in pain as the female trooper shoved her hand inside the woman. In this ‘search’ the troopers did not bother to check the women’s socks/shoes.

It's a big state. I'm sure you could find plenty examples of police abuses from California.

My point is they just had this happen a few months back and one officer got fired with another's fate still undetermined while the city is getting sued so you'd think that would be a recent memory and even the most backwards PD in Texas would have said "Hey, look what happened to those guys. Let's not do the same thing."

That didn't happen though and instead they just went right back to doing the exact same thing. It's like they're too stupid to learn from their mistakes.

Sounds like they did this in December, well before the earlier offense made the news. But I have this annoying habit of reading articles.

Still...an unbelievable violation of people's rights.

Just curious - what will happen if you deny to accept such a search ? will you be shot ? arrested and forced to the search kicked in jail for several years because you didn't followd orders from your overlords or would the officers commit suicide because they couldn't handle the fact that someone would not follow orders ?

I think the mayor of San Diego counts in the chain of command of police force.

Well, taking as given that the police could in theory do any of those things illegally (but do them, given they have the gun)...

The most likely result is that you'd go back to the station and be booked and then searched there (possibly in very nearly the same manner, albeit presumably with more gloves and otherwise respect for proper procedure), assuming the police had anything to book you on.

The problem in these cases is:
                1. People not properly aware of their rights
                2. People probably not totally sober
                3. Police are scary and you are trained to listen to them

Uhm, guns of course can have effect to how you react

Though, i'm a bit cunfused considering the right to do these "internal body serches". Here, when stopped by police, you have to provide driving licence, personal number/social security and nothing else. If they suspect drunk driving a breath test descides if a blood test are nessecary (wich can't be discussed).

Only if there are obvious evidence of crime it can go further (weapons, stolen goods etc).

Why is it that body searches is accepted by americans ?

I'm not concerned about this as long as there is potential for police abuse in California. Let the rest of the world fall into Hell, California must be perfect!

I think we need a Really? California does this AGAIN? thread. We can stuff it with LAPD abuses, among other things.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

In recent news, George Zimmerman was stopped on a traffic infraction in east Texas.

The other case you're thinking of involved two black women and this one involved two white women so they are most certainly different cases of the same abuse.
